Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT) joined forces with Huawei Pakistan to commemorate World Telecom and Information Society Day (WTISD) in Islamabad.

The event brought together State Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima and a delegation from MoITT, including Chief Coordinator Baber Sheikh and Sania Zaidi Coordinator, with Huawei’s senior leadership team. Zhangzhen (CEO Carrier Network Business Group), Ray Yushaoning (Vice CEO Public Affairs), Shahzad Rasheed (CEO Cloud & AI), Saad Talha Saeed (Director Government Affairs), and Ahmed Aziz (Director Public Relations) represented Huawei Pakistan.

World Telecom Day serves as a global platform to raise awareness about the transformative power of telecommunications. This year’s theme, “ICT for a Sustainable Future: Connecting the Unconnected to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” underscores the crucial role technology plays in bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive growth.

In her address, Minister Fatima highlighted the government’s commitment to building a robust information and communication technology (ICT) ecosystem in Pakistan.

“We recognize the power of telecommunications to act as a great equalizer,” stated Minister Fatima. “As we bridge the digital divide, we witness the profound societal changes brought about by the internet and new technologies.”

She expressed appreciation for Huawei’s dedication to creating a “Fully Connected, Intelligent World,” aligning with the government’s vision for Pakistan’s digital transformation.

Zhangzhen, CEO of Huawei’s Carrier Network Business Group, emphasized Huawei’s ongoing contributions to Pakistan’s digitalization efforts. He mentioned the successful launch of the country’s first Smart Village Project and the first National Hyper-Scale Financial Cloud, both powered by Huawei technology.

Ray Yushaoning, Huawei’s Vice CEO for Public Affairs, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting “Digital Pakistan” by providing advanced solutions in AI, cloud services, digital infrastructure, smart city development, and cybersecurity.

The event at Huawei Pakistan signifies the strong partnership between the government and private sector in driving Pakistan’s digital transformation journey. By working together to connect the unconnected and empower communities through technology, Pakistan can achieve a more sustainable and prosperous future.
