Ecommerce and online payments through mobile wallets etc have taken off in Pakistan over the last couple of years. But what many vendors, ecommerce portals and even freelancers complain about it the lack of online payment platforms like PayPal in the country.
However, according to Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan at the Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association in Sialkot, the government is making sincere efforts to bring PayPal and other payment gateways to Pakistan.
According to him, “The government is currently working towards bringing PayPal and other online payment gateways to the country. We are hopeful that the international payment gateway will start its regular services in Pakistan very soon.”
According to him the necessary legislation are already in process with the State Bank of Pakistan. Also the Government has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the world’s largest e-commerce company last week i.e. AliBaba.
