Federal Cabinet Appoints New PTA Chairman

The Federal cabinet has appointed Major Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa as the new chairman PTA. According to sources, a list of three members was put forward for the selection of New Chairman PTA that consisted of Major Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa (Member Technical), Dr. Khawar Saddique Khokhar (Member Compliance) and Mohammad Naveed (Member Finance).

Amir Azeem Najwa has been appointed for the first term of four years which is extendable for another four years. It is to be noted that the Major Gen (Retd) has previously served as the Director General (DG) for the Special Communication Organization (SCO). 

SCO is a military-run telecommunication organization that provides services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit Baltistan. The Federal Cabinet had approved the appointment of Major Gen (Retd) Bajwa as Member Technical in December. However, he has now been appointed as the new chairman.

The new PTA chairman aims to work hard for the betterment and improvement of Telecom Sector. It is stated that his agenda includes the renewal of licenses of three mobile operators, implementation of Telecom Policy as well as the implementation of the cybercrime law in letter and spirit.
