Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has officially implemented the e-Filing Office Automation System (e-FOAS) under the directives of the Punjab government, marking a significant step toward digitized administrative operations. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, streamline internal processes, and ensure transparency across departments by replacing conventional paper-based systems with digital workflows.

To facilitate a smooth transition to the new system, a training workshop was organized by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and inaugurated by FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry. Senior officials, including Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub, Director IT Yasir Ijaz Chatha, and Director Town Planning Asma Mohsin, attended the session. PITB representatives Ashfaq Ali and Amar Iftikhar conducted detailed briefings for participants, explaining the operational framework, system functionalities, and advantages of e-FOAS for effective digital governance.

Speaking at the session, DG Chaudhry emphasized that adopting digital systems like e-FOAS is essential to meet the evolving administrative demands of modern governance. He noted that electronic filing would not only expedite decision-making but also improve coordination among departments by providing a centralized communication and documentation platform. The e-FOAS, developed by PITB, enables officials to handle correspondence, manage summaries, maintain digital records, and track progress across different levels of administration with greater accuracy and accountability.

The workshop covered essential training modules designed to help FDA personnel familiarize themselves with the platform’s key features, including document management, inter-departmental communication, and workflow automation. Participants were briefed on how the system supports real-time tracking of files, approval chains, and digital archiving to minimize redundancies and ensure efficient handling of official records. The emphasis on hands-on learning allowed staff to engage directly with the system, ensuring they are equipped to operate it effectively within their respective divisions.

Officials present at the workshop lauded the Punjab government’s continued efforts to integrate technology into governance and improve public service delivery. The implementation of e-FOAS at FDA reflects a growing commitment toward digitization within Punjab’s administrative framework, aligning with the province’s broader agenda for digital transformation. As departments increasingly move toward paperless operations, such initiatives are expected to strengthen transparency, reduce processing delays, and create a more responsive and efficient governance environment.

The introduction of e-filing within FDA represents an important milestone in the city’s ongoing digital modernization efforts. By equipping staff with digital tools and standardized processes, the authority aims to establish a more connected and data-driven administrative culture capable of addressing contemporary urban development challenges efficiently and transparently.
