The Ministry of Education has teamed up with Google and Tech Valley Abbottabad to create digitally connected government schools. Tech Valley is the official partner for Google for Education in Pakistan.
The MoU between Google and Tech Valley entails making Islamabad the gold standard for digitally enabled government schools. The effort is part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Digital Pakistan” vision, which aims to digitally modernise the country.
Under the first phase of this initiative, Tech Valley would install Google Workspace based on Cloud-Based Infrastructure in 200 male and female schools of Islamabad Capital Territory.
While Google would provide tools to these schools for distance education along with chrome book. In the second phase, all teachers will receive virtual training on how to use and benefit from these tools effectively.
The Ministry of Education is taking this action to ensure teacher and student professional development. The IT Ministry had already authorised seven projects for Rs. 4.8 billion as part of the Digital Pakistan goal. Despite increasing digitalization initiatives, Pakistan’s educational difficulties have exacerbated as a result of a shortage of resources, such as the Internet.
