Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Compliance & Enforcement) of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has resigned from his position.

ProPakistani was informed by sources that the Member (Compliance & Enforcement) has given up control following the completion of his 4-year term.

He assumed control of the position on January 12, 2019, and his four-year term ended on January 11, 2023, according to sources. After leaving the post, the federal government did not approve the summary for the extension of his tenure.
According to sources, he informed the authorities and cabinet division of his decision to renounce the duty, and PTA has announced the position as empty on its website.

This indicates that the roles of Member (Compliance & Enforcement) and Chairman PTA/Member (Technical) are now open jobs. After serving his full term, the Chairman PTA/Member (Technical) retired on January 4. Farhatullah Babar, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, has challenged Mohammad Naveed’s appointment in the Islamabad High Court, which has added fuel to the fire surrounding his reappointment as the authority’s lone remaining member.

A new Member (Technical) has already been appointed by the cabinet division, and according to reports, the position of Member (Compliance & Enforcement) will shortly also be posted. Mohammad Naveed, the lone member still in charge under the PTA Act, is only granted limited authority and is only able to manage the authority’s day-to-day operations.
