The government of Punjab has introduced a new digital initiative aimed at simplifying citizen access to police services, with the launch of a mobile application that enables users to report lost documents online. The move, announced under the direction of the provincial leadership, reflects a broader push toward digitisation of public services and improved service delivery through technology. Developed in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board and Punjab Police, the application is designed to streamline processes that traditionally required physical visits to police stations.

The newly launched feature allows citizens to file reports for lost documents through a digital interface, reducing the need for manual paperwork and in person verification. This builds on existing digital services already available through police platforms, where users can access facilities such as online complaint registration, verification services and reporting tools through mobile applications. The addition of a dedicated lost document reporting system is expected to improve convenience for users while also enhancing record keeping and transparency within the police system.

Officials have indicated that the initiative is part of a wider effort to modernise law enforcement services by leveraging digital tools to improve accessibility and efficiency. By enabling citizens to report lost items remotely, the system reduces processing time and allows authorities to maintain better organised records. Digital reporting systems for lost documents have already been introduced in related public service platforms, allowing users to generate official reports that can be used for further administrative processes. The integration of such features into a centralized police app is expected to further consolidate service delivery under a single platform.

The launch of the application highlights the provincial government’s continued focus on e governance and citizen centric service models. As digital adoption increases across Pakistan, initiatives like this are playing a key role in bridging gaps between public institutions and citizens by offering more accessible and efficient solutions. With further enhancements expected over time, the application represents another step toward building a more responsive and technology driven public service infrastructure in Punjab.
