Careem has officially launched its rewards program in Pakistan. The rewards program is aimed at encouraging loyalty and promoting donations towards charity causes, the rewards program works with any financial activity performed through the Careem application excluding Careem packages.
Over the past few months we’ve seen efforts by the ride hailing company as it works towards becoming a complete digital payment platform. Therefore, Careem rewards is another step that is to encourage users to further use the app and make sure rides and transactions through the app are properly incentivized.
The rewards option by Careem has been automatically integrated in to the app, and there is no opt-in or opt-out option that you can use. Basically, whenever one books and pays for a ride using Careem, they will automatically get reward points against it. However, the quantity of how many points one may get is dependent on their status in the rewards program.
According to sources, regular users will earn 10 points for every 20 PKR spent in Careem app and gold users, I.e. Those who have taken more than 15 rides in a single month will earn 50 percent more rewards than regular users.
Furthermore, Careem offers a number of different channels regarding how to use the reward points. The points can be used for donations for planting trees, or educating and feeding underprivileged children. The ride hailing app has partnered with The Citizen Foundation (TCF), United Nations World Food Program (WFP), and World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) for this very purpose.
Moreover, Careem also offers to convert the rewards to Careem Credit, which can then be used to pay for rides, I.e. 900 points from Careem can be converted into 50 Pakistani Rupees and 3,000 points into 200 Pakistani Rupees.
