In a significant stride toward promoting sustainable transportation, BYD Pakistan – operated by Mega Motor Company (MMC) – has partnered with HUBCO Green (Private) Limited (HGL), a subsidiary of The Hub Power Company, to establish Pakistan’s largest DC fast-charging network for new energy vehicles (NEVs). This partnership marks a groundbreaking development in the country’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, aiming to bridge critical gaps in infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of clean mobility solutions.

As part of this strategic collaboration, HGL will deploy approximately 128 DC fast chargers across Pakistan over the next three years. The initial phase of the rollout includes the installation of 50 fast-charging stations by December 2025. Several charging points are already operational in major urban centers, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, with installations at Pakistan State Oil (PSO) stations and BYD Pakistan dealerships.

The national network will be strategically distributed across three major zones: urban centers, intercity highways, and destination hubs. In cities, the infrastructure will be supported through collaborations with key Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) such as PSO, PARCO Gunvor, and Attock Petroleum Limited. On highways and motorways, chargers will be spaced every 150–200 kilometers to facilitate long-distance travel. Additionally, destination charging points will be established at commercial hubs including malls, hotels, and hospitals, ensuring convenience for a wide range of users.

Danish Khaliq, Vice President of Sales and Strategy at BYD Pakistan, emphasized that this project is designed to address one of the most persistent challenges in EV adoption: range anxiety. “Through this groundbreaking partnership with HUBCO Green, we are not just addressing a logistical issue but shaping the entire mobility landscape of the country,” said Khaliq. “Our commitment goes beyond building the infrastructure; it’s about giving confidence and assurance to our consumers that electric mobility is not only possible but practical.”

Masood Zafar, Vice President of Projects at HUBCO, echoed this sentiment, describing the initiative as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s green transportation revolution. “We believe that the foundation of a green transportation revolution lies in vast, readily-available infrastructure,” he stated. “Through our partnership with BYD Pakistan, we are laying the foundation for a cleaner and greener future. This initiative is our commitment to national development and a key part of our broader mission to drive Pakistan’s sustainable transformation.”

The move aligns closely with Pakistan’s climate action goals and its broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions across all sectors. With this initiative, BYD becomes one of the first automakers in the country to invest directly in large-scale charging infrastructure, positioning itself as a leader in the sustainable mobility movement.

As the world increasingly pivots toward clean energy, this partnership stands out as a major milestone for Pakistan’s EV sector. It not only signals a shift in how mobility is approached in the country but also offers a scalable model for public-private collaboration in driving innovation and environmental stewardship.
