The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore have signed an agreement to connect student registration for Matric and Intermediate examinations with NADRA’s national identity records. The agreement introduces a secure digital data exchange mechanism between the two institutions, allowing student registration information maintained by BISE Lahore to be linked with identity information available through NADRA. The initiative is intended to improve the accuracy of student records and reduce errors and discrepancies during the examination registration process.
Under the agreement, NADRA will provide BISE Lahore with basic information available in its records, including students’ names, fathers’ names and dates of birth. This information will be exchanged through an integrated and secure system designed to support the registration process for students appearing in Matric and Intermediate examinations. By connecting educational registration details with national identity records, the system is expected to reduce the possibility of incorrect or inconsistent information being entered into examination records. Accurate information can also support the issuance of educational certificates and other related administrative processes handled by the Lahore Board.
The agreement was signed by Fiza Shahid, Director General of NADRA Lahore Regional Office, and Engineer Dr Badr-ul-Islam, Chairman of BISE Lahore. The integration is focused on improving digital record management for students and creating a more reliable process for maintaining academic information. Instead of relying solely on information entered during registration, the Lahore Board will be able to use verified basic identity information available through NADRA’s records. The move is expected to help address discrepancies in student information that can affect registration and the subsequent preparation or issuance of academic credentials.
The BISE Lahore initiative is also part of NADRA’s broader plan to establish digital links between national identity records and educational records across Pakistan. According to reports, NADRA is working in phases to establish secure data-sharing systems with boards of secondary and higher secondary education, universities and the Higher Education Commission. The broader initiative is intended to create digital channels for exchanging relevant information between identity and education institutions while improving the accuracy of records. The latest agreement with BISE Lahore therefore represents a move toward greater digital integration of examination and academic record management, although specific details about the system’s technical implementation and future expansion were not disclosed.
