Bioniks and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) have launched a joint initiative to provide AI-enabled prosthetic limbs to deserving and underprivileged individuals across Pakistan, aiming to improve mobility and quality of life for amputees. The program is being implemented in collaboration with the PSO CSR Trust and focuses on making advanced prosthetic technology accessible to those who need it most.

A ceremony marking the initiative was held at PSO House in Karachi and was attended by beneficiaries, including women and children. Speaking at the event, Bioniks Chief Executive Officer Anas Niaz said the prosthetic robotic limbs are locally manufactured in Pakistan using advanced artificial intelligence technology. He added that the devices are designed to assist users with routine daily activities, helping them regain independence and confidence.

The AI-enabled prosthetic limbs have already gained international recognition. According to Bioniks, the technology is being exported to Jordan, while beneficiaries in Japan are also using the locally developed devices. Through its partnership with PSO, more than 100 individuals — including men, women, and children — have so far received prosthetic limbs under the initiative.

The prosthetics are connected to a cloud-based system that enables remote monitoring and online troubleshooting, allowing technical support to be provided quickly if users face any difficulties. This feature ensures long-term usability and continued assistance for beneficiaries.

PSO and Bioniks said the initiative aims to empower amputees, support their reintegration into society, and demonstrate how locally developed AI-driven healthcare solutions can create meaningful social impact both in Pakistan and internationally.
