QUETTA: The Balochistan government has launched its first-ever automated financial digital e-filing system, marking a major step toward transparency, accountability, and modern governance in the province.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti formally inaugurated the system at a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister Secretariat. The event was attended by provincial ministers, assembly members, and senior officials from across administrative departments.
The initiative aims to replace outdated paper-based procedures with a comprehensive digital framework, streamlining financial operations and making government records more accessible to both officials and the public.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bugti said the new system would serve as the backbone of financial reform in Balochistan. He explained that all provincial departments would now be required to submit budget requests digitally, with the system tracking each stage of approval and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded and accessible.
“The e-filing system is designed to eliminate inefficiencies, strengthen oversight, and bring transparency to public finance,” Bugti said. “For the first time, citizens will be able to monitor development projects and financial records digitally, checking whether initiatives are actually implemented or remain on paper.”
Officials will have access to live data, enabling quicker and better-informed decision-making. At the same time, the public will benefit from greater oversight of provincial spending, aligning Balochistan’s governance standards with international best practices.
To accelerate implementation, the chief minister directed departmental secretaries to immediately adopt the new system. He also announced that future cabinet meetings would be conducted on digital tablets to phase out paper-based processes altogether.
Bugti praised the local IT professionals and government employees who designed and developed the system, highlighting that it was created entirely by Balochistan’s own youth without outside assistance. As recognition, he announced a one-month salary bonus for the officials involved and pledged further incentives for private-sector contributors.
Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon provided a live demonstration of the e-filing system’s features, showcasing its ability to streamline budget submissions, track transactions, and offer digital access to records. He emphasized that the platform would improve efficiency while building public trust in governance.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the development team, underscoring the government’s commitment to adopting digital solutions for better governance and more responsible use of public resources.
Observers note that the system not only represents a milestone for Balochistan but also signals Pakistan’s broader shift toward digital governance as provinces increasingly adopt technology to enhance transparency and accountability.
