Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani visited the head office of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority on Tuesday, chairing a detailed meeting with Managing Director Abdul Kabeer Zarkoon alongside Dr Noor Mohammad, Head of the Public-Private Partnership Unit, and senior B-TEVTA officials. The meeting covered the authority’s current performance, its ongoing technical and vocational training programmes across the province, and its forward-looking strategic plans, with both sides reaching consensus on making the Technical Training Centre Kharan fully operational and introducing new skill trades aligned with local employment requirements.
The Finance Minister stated that Chief Minister Balochistan has issued clear directives to equip the province’s youth with modern, high-quality technical education that creates meaningful employment opportunities, situating the B-TEVTA visit within a broader provincial mandate to strengthen skills development across Balochistan’s underserved districts. He announced that alongside the activation of the Kharan training centre, a dedicated entrepreneurship initiative would be introduced for Kharan’s youth, paired with a Qarz-e-Hasna interest-free loan scheme to enable trained graduates to establish their own businesses and livelihoods with financial support rather than being left to independently source capital after completing their training.
Managing Director Abdul Kabeer Zarkoon briefed the Finance Minister on B-TEVTA’s upcoming projects and assured that modern, market-driven training programmes would be introduced in the near future to better align the skill sets of Balochistan’s youth with domestic and international employment demands. The commitment to market-aligned curricula reflects a recognition that technical education only translates into economic opportunity when the trades and competencies being taught correspond to what employers and industries are actively seeking, a gap that has historically limited the effectiveness of vocational training in the province.
The visit reflects a pattern of senior provincial leadership directly engaging with technical and vocational training institutions rather than leaving oversight to departmental channels alone, a signal of how central skills development has become to Balochistan’s current governance agenda as the province works to reduce unemployment and build a workforce capable of participating meaningfully in both local and international labour markets.
