Airlink Communication Limited has announced plans to begin local assembly of Acer laptops in Pakistan, a step expected to strengthen the country’s position in electronics manufacturing. The company confirmed that it anticipates receiving an initial shipment of 10,000 Acer laptops by November, which will be used to assess market performance during the pilot phase. This initiative reflects Airlink’s strategic goal of expanding into technology manufacturing and aligning with the government’s broader “Made in Pakistan” vision to promote self-sufficiency and local production.

According to details shared during a corporate briefing attended by Topline Securities, Airlink will use the imported units to test consumer demand and gauge market response before transitioning to full-scale local assembly. The company’s management emphasized that if the pilot phase performs successfully, local production will commence at an advanced stage, potentially reaching an output capacity of 10,000 laptops per month. This move could contribute an estimated Rs. 4 billion annually to Airlink’s revenue while also boosting Pakistan’s technology manufacturing landscape. The initiative comes at a time when the domestic electronics market is expanding, and local demand for affordable, quality devices continues to rise.

Airlink’s venture into laptop assembly marks an important milestone in Pakistan’s tech manufacturing ecosystem. By localizing the assembly of Acer products, the company aims to reduce reliance on imports and address cost-related challenges associated with foreign devices. Moreover, this shift is expected to generate new employment opportunities, build technical expertise, and strengthen industrial infrastructure across related supply chains. Airlink also intends to gradually increase the proportion of locally sourced components, ensuring greater value addition within Pakistan’s production ecosystem. The company’s management highlighted that localized assembly not only reduces logistics costs but also enhances accessibility for consumers seeking internationally recognized technology brands.

This development aligns with ongoing government efforts to encourage domestic manufacturing under the “Made in Pakistan” initiative. Policymakers have repeatedly emphasized the importance of technology-led industrial growth, with incentives aimed at promoting local assembly of electronics, smartphones, and IT hardware. Airlink’s entry into laptop production positions it among a growing group of companies contributing to this goal. As Acer laptops enter the market under this initiative, Pakistan could witness a significant step forward in achieving greater self-reliance in the technology sector. The collaboration between Acer and Airlink demonstrates confidence in Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities and represents a meaningful stride toward sustainable technological advancement within the country.
