Apple has introduced an updated version of its premium over ear headphones, bringing incremental improvements to audio performance and connectivity while retaining the design of the original model released in 2020. The new AirPods Max 2 are powered by the H2 chip, which enhances processing capabilities and enables improved active noise cancelling. According to the company, the updated model delivers up to 1.5 times more effective noise cancellation compared to its predecessor, offering users a more immersive listening experience across different environments.

The inclusion of the H2 chip also enables a range of smart features designed to enhance usability and interaction. These include Adaptive Audio, Live Translation, and conversation awareness, which automatically lowers playback volume when nearby speech is detected. Apple has also upgraded connectivity with support for Bluetooth 5.3, allowing more stable connections and improved efficiency. Additionally, the headphones feature a high dynamic range amplifier that enhances overall sound clarity and detail, particularly in high fidelity audio playback.

In terms of functionality, Apple has introduced a camera remote feature that allows users to use the digital crown as a shutter button, adding convenience for capturing photos remotely. The AirPods Max 2 are available in multiple color options including Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple, and Blue. Despite these updates, the overall design remains unchanged, maintaining the same aesthetic and build quality that defined the original AirPods Max.

Battery performance also remains consistent, with up to 20 hours of listening time when active noise cancelling is enabled. The headphones now charge through a USB C port, which also supports 24 bit and 48 kHz lossless audio playback for improved sound quality when connected. Priced at 549 dollars, the AirPods Max 2 continue to target the premium segment of the audio market, offering refinements in performance and features without altering the core design.
