Pakistan Set to Launch Remote Sensing Satellite PakTES-1A

On Sunday, the Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal revealed that Pakistan is to launch a PakTES-1A, a remote sensing satellite (RSS) in July 2018.

Dr Faisal also reported that the PakTES-1A is an indigenously developed remote sensing satellite and that it weighs 285kg. Furthermore it is ready to be launched at 610km sun-synchronous orbit next month.

The PakTES-1A is a project of the scientists and engineers of Pakistan Space (SPARCO) from concept to completion. It is reported that in 2016, China and Pakistan had signed an agreement for the launch of a special remote sensing satellite. At present, there are three satellites currently under design by SPARCO in collaboration with various universities throughout China. Furthermore, Beijing had also announced it would launch two remote sensing satellites for Pakistan.
