Easypaisa Digital Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Visa, aiming to significantly scale card-based digital payment solutions in Pakistan and beyond. The agreement formalizes collaboration between the two organizations to expand the issuance and adoption of Visa-branded debit and credit cards, offering secure and seamless transactions across physical and digital merchant channels. This partnership is set to enhance the overall cardholder experience while promoting financial inclusion and digital payment adoption throughout the country.
Under the agreement, easypaisa Digital Bank plans to launch premium debit and credit cards, along with initiatives to support cross-border transactions. The collaboration will also focus on increasing card usage for domestic and international transactions through multiple channels, including point-of-sale systems, e-commerce platforms, and ATMs. Joint efforts in marketing, customer activation, merchant enablement, staff training, and technology upgrades are also part of the partnership framework, reflecting a comprehensive approach to advancing Pakistan’s cashless ecosystem.
Jahanzeb Khan, President and CEO of easypaisa Digital Bank, emphasized the potential of the partnership, stating that leveraging Visa’s global payment network, advanced transaction processing capabilities, and robust security standards will help deliver seamless and secure payment experiences. He highlighted that the collaboration would drive greater card adoption, expand merchant acceptance across the country, and contribute to Pakistan’s broader goal of becoming a cashless society. Khan noted that the initiative aligns with the bank’s mission to unlock financial opportunities for all citizens while strengthening the digital economy.
Umar S. Khan, Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan at Visa, commented on the collaboration, pointing out that Pakistan’s digital transformation is accelerating and that easypaisa’s scale demonstrates what is possible in the local fintech ecosystem. He added that combining easypaisa’s reach, serving roughly one in every five Pakistanis, with Visa’s global network and advanced security infrastructure would enable more consumers and merchants to move from cash to digital payments. This, he said, complements the national ecosystem and promotes broader participation in secure financial services.
Easypaisa Digital Bank’s customer base, representing one in every five Pakistanis and including a 31% female user segment, processed over 4.5 billion transactions in 2025, valued at more than PKR 15 trillion, roughly 13% of Pakistan’s GDP. The bank’s performance highlights its pivotal role in shaping the country’s digital banking landscape and financial empowerment initiatives. Through this strategic partnership, both Visa and easypaisa Digital Bank aim to further develop a secure, scalable, and inclusive digital payments ecosystem, reinforcing Pakistan’s shift toward a cashless economy while setting new benchmarks in card-based transaction solutions.
The partnership underscores a growing focus on innovation in Pakistan’s fintech sector, with technology-enabled financial services becoming increasingly central to consumer convenience and economic development. By enhancing card offerings and expanding merchant and cross-border payment solutions, the collaboration promises to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve user experiences, and drive greater adoption of electronic payments throughout Pakistan.
