In a move toward regulating healthcare costs in Punjab, the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has entered into a contract with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The agreement, formalized by PHC Director HR and Support Services Dr. Asif Habib and PITB Additional Director General Khurram Mushtaq at a ceremony held at the Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP), aims to standardize the prices of healthcare services provided by all Healthcare Establishments (HCE) throughout the province.

Present at the signing ceremony were Punjab Healthcare Commission CEO Dr. Saqib Aziz and PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. The collaboration between PHC and PITB involves the development of an advanced monitoring software designed to oversee and regulate the pricing of health services offered by a diverse range of Healthcare Establishments. This includes private hospitals, diagnostic centers, non-profit organizations, charitable hospitals, as well as semi-government and autonomous HCEs.

PITB will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive software solution tailored for the submission of costing and pricing information related to healthcare services by any HCE. This initiative aligns with PHC’s vision to establish fair and transparent pricing practices within the healthcare sector.

The submitted costing from HCEs will undergo thorough validation through advanced software checks to ensure accuracy and reliability. The software will offer options for verification and re-assessment, enabling HCEs to address any inconsistencies in their submitted pricing.

To effectively enforce pricing regulations, the software will incorporate both Desk and Field Monitoring modules. These modules will streamline the monitoring process, ensuring strict adherence to established pricing standards. The collaborative effort between PHC and PITB represents a significant stride toward ensuring equitable healthcare pricing and fostering transparency within the healthcare sector in Punjab.
