2025 Aurora Tech Award is now open for applications, inviting women tech entrepreneurs from across the globe to showcase their groundbreaking innovations. Launched in 2020, the award has rapidly become a prestigious platform aimed at recognizing and supporting women founders of IT startups who are driving technological advancements and breaking down barriers in the tech industry. With this year’s expanded prize fund and mentorship program, the award continues to prioritize the development of diverse leadership in technology.
The 2025 edition of the Aurora Tech Award brings several new enhancements aimed at providing more substantial support to women entrepreneurs. One of the key updates is a significant increase in the prize fund, signaling a greater commitment to recognizing the critical role women play in tech innovation. The prizes have been allocated as follows: $30,000 for first place, $20,000 for second place, $15,000 for third, and $10,000 each for fourth and fifth. This expanded financial support underscores the growing recognition of women’s contributions to the tech industry, helping them scale their projects and drive real-world impact.
In a move designed to ensure the selection of the most innovative projects, the evaluation process has been refined. It now consists of three stages: longlist, midlist, and shortlist. After an initial review by venture fund analysts, 100 participants will be selected to pitch their projects. From this group, 15 will advance to the final shortlist, giving these entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their innovations to a wider audience. Another notable enhancement for 2025 is the introduction of an expanded mentoring program. Shortlisted participants will receive mentorship from leading industry experts over a span of two to two and a half months, allowing them to refine their business strategies, implement key improvements, and receive personalized guidance on navigating the challenges of the tech world.
The award’s continued growth reflects the support of companies like inDrive, which has been a driving force behind this initiative. Asya Vildt, Operations Excellence and Sustainability Director at inDrive, explained the company’s commitment to women’s empowerment, emphasizing that women bring essential perspectives for solving today’s complex problems. According to Vildt, inDrive is committed to providing opportunities that not only level the playing field but also drive innovation through diverse leadership. This, she noted, is the foundation of building a more sustainable and inclusive future, and the Aurora Tech Award embodies this mission.
The eligibility criteria for the 2025 Aurora Tech Award include leadership by a woman founder or co-founder, startups that have received no more than $4 million in funding, and a functional prototype rather than an idea-stage project. The startup must also be no older than five years. Applications for the award will be accepted from September 2 to November 21, 2024. The announcement of the finalists is expected in the spring of 2025, with winners being revealed shortly thereafter. The Aurora Tech Award continues to serve as a vital platform for women innovators, providing them with the recognition, financial resources, and mentorship needed to succeed in an evolving tech landscape.
