Zong has been ranked as Pakistan’s top-performing mobile network in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) independent Quality of Service (QoS) survey for the third quarter of 2025. The assessment, which spanned 17 major cities and two major highways, evaluated network performance through approximately 46,000 voice calls and SMS tests, along with over 0.33 million broadband samples. Zong emerged as the leader in key categories including 4G coverage, voice quality, and SMS performance, as well as several broadband throughput metrics. Jazz followed in second place overall, while Ufone and Telenor ranked third and fourth, respectively.
The survey highlighted Zong’s dominance in 4G coverage and voice call quality across multiple regions. Zong led in mobile network coverage in 15 cities for 4G and 11 cities for 3G, earning the top position for overall coverage compliance. In comparison, Jazz met 4G coverage standards in 13 cities, Ufone in 12, and Telenor in six. The voice call category, which measures factors such as network accessibility, call setup success rate, call connection time, call completion ratio, and mean opinion score, saw Zong achieve 86 compliant KPIs out of a total tested, with only nine non-compliant. This consistency reinforced Zong’s position as a network offering reliable and high-quality connectivity to its users.
In latency and web browsing performance, the survey recorded a mixed picture across operators. Zong’s average latency in the PTA’s auto-mode tests was around 77 milliseconds, slightly higher than Jazz at 68 ms and Telenor at 67 ms, though still within acceptable standards. Ufone recorded the highest average latency at 98 ms. However, Zong performed strongly in third-party application latency testing, where it achieved compliance in 18 out of 19 tested cities, tying with Ufone for second place in this category. This consistency across multiple parameters demonstrates Zong’s commitment to maintaining stable and responsive network performance.
Web browsing results showed some variation among networks, with Ufone and Jazz leading the category, while Zong recorded compliant results in 13 cities and non-compliance in five. Despite this, Zong maintained higher overall throughput and upload speeds across most tested areas, indicating robust broadband capabilities even in locations with less favorable browsing metrics. Jazz performed well in auto-mode download throughput, leading in 11 cities, while Telenor and Ufone showed strength in specific non-service indicators such as latency and page loading time.
PTA clarified that the QoS survey is comparative and limited to the 17 surveyed cities, and results may not represent nationwide performance. The findings highlight Zong’s consistent delivery of high-quality network services across Pakistan’s urban and semi-urban regions. By maintaining leadership in multiple categories including 4G coverage, call quality, and broadband throughput, Zong continues to strengthen its reputation as a reliable and high-performing telecom operator in the country’s competitive mobile landscape.
