Government schools across Islamabad are undergoing a major digital transformation through a collaboration between the Ministry of Federal Education and Technical Training and Zong Business Solutions. This initiative, launched to align public education with international standards, aims to equip classrooms with modern technologies and give students exposure to digital tools that prepare them for a technology-driven future. Federal Minister for Education and Technical Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi inaugurated the project on Wednesday, commending Zong for its work in introducing advanced learning solutions into government schools and emphasizing its potential to elevate the quality of public education in Pakistan.

Under this program, classrooms are being converted into smart learning centers equipped with contemporary infrastructure and cutting-edge digital technologies. These upgrades are intended to ensure that students in public schools have access to the same resources and learning environments as their counterparts in more developed institutions. Zong’s involvement extends beyond simply providing hardware; it has digitalized these schools comprehensively, offering devices, connectivity solutions, and training to both students and teachers. Through this approach, the initiative seeks to create an environment where technology becomes an integral part of everyday learning rather than an occasional add-on.

Students are now being introduced to emerging disciplines such as programming, blockchain, Web 3.0, and AI-powered tools. By integrating these topics into the curriculum, the program positions students to develop future-relevant skills while still in school. Teachers are also receiving dedicated training to confidently incorporate these digital resources into their classrooms, enabling them to guide students more effectively through new learning methodologies. According to Zong, the project is designed to empower both educators and students to succeed in a connected, technology-centric world while contributing to Pakistan’s broader socio-economic progress.

Farooq Raza, Head of Business Solutions at Zong, highlighted the company’s view that education remains the cornerstone of national development and that technology acts as its most powerful catalyst. He said the initiative in Islamabad serves as a model for future efforts and that Zong plans to replicate this approach in other parts of Pakistan. Drawing inspiration from digital education initiatives in China, the company intends to use this program as a template for scaling up similar projects nationwide. Through such efforts, the Ministry of Federal Education and Zong Business Solutions hope to create an enduring impact on the country’s education system by bridging the gap between traditional learning environments and modern digital education frameworks.
