PlanX Set to Host Fintech Conference

A Fintech Conference, organised by PlanX Technology Accelerator of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), will be held on Thursday,  September 21. The conference aims to highlight the challenges faced by Fintech startups in Pakistan and propose solutions for the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the country.

The one-day event will comprise of pitches from Fintech startups, speaker talks and a panel discussion. The conference would be a good opportunity for students and aspiring entrepreneurs to participate and experience what it likes to be a Fintech entrepreneur, a sector where the global investment currently stands at a staggering $49.7 billion. According to estimates more than a dozen Fintech companies are valued at over US$1 billion.

The opening note shall be delivered by Nadeem Hussain,  founder and coach at Planet N Group of Companies which focuses on financial inclusion and facilitation of entrepreneurship in Pakistan through technology.

The opening note shall be followed by a series of other activities which includes a talk by Omar Moeen Malik, head of Digital Payments at Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited. The conference shall also include a panel discussion that would discuss on the challenges and solutions for Fintech in Pakistan and how the entire sector could act as a catalyst to take entrepreneurship to a totally new level in Pakistan. Qasif Shahid, co-founder and CEO at SimSim Pakistan will also be at the conference to express his views on Fintech in Pakistan. Rai Azam, partner at Azam & Rai, will bring a legal perspective to the event. Usman Dastgir, senior vice president of digital products and channels at FINCA Microfinance Bank Limited and Noshad Khalid Minhas, head of cash management and projects at Silkbank will also be in attendance.

The conference would end by the closing note of Information Technology Vice Chancellor Dr Umar Saif.
