Pakistani Startup Micropower Labs Wins The Digital Winners Pitch Competition in Singapore

 Abdullah Soomro, Founder Micropower Labs Secures Prize at The Digital Winners Pitch Competition

Micropower Labs has just secured the winning prize of 100,000 Norwegian Krone at the Digital Winners Asia 2017 competition. Micropower Labs was founded by Abdullah Soomro, and was incubated at The Nest I/O before they joined Telenor Pakistan’s accelerator – Telenor Velocity.

Two startups from the Telenor Velocity cohort were pitching at the event including Micropower Labs and Artsy.pk, and were accompanied by the Velocity team at the event held in the global technology capital; Singapore.

According to Telenor Group:

Telenor Group, in partnership with Slush Singapore is bringing startup companies from across its Asian accelerator programmes to Singapore for Digital Winners in a three-day combined event. It’s a meeting of the minds and competition to win funding to expand into new territories.

The three days included Slush Singapore Founder’s Day, Slush Singapore Main Event and Telenor’s Digital Winners 2017. The event Slush Singapore was part of the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology (SWITCH) and was held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on 19th September 2017.

Vegard Aas who is the Head of Innovation at Telenor Global trained the startups prior the pitching competition.

Increasingly, we find them in the young startup communities in our Asian accelerators, including dtac Accelerate in Thailand, GP Accelerator in Bangladesh, Telenor Velocity in Pakistan and with our partners at Phandeeyar in Myanmar. As a digital service provider, one of our central goals is to improve our customers’ lives through new innovations and great services, so helping our local startups thrive and scale is part of how we do this.”

Singapore boasts of one of the most vibrant ecosystems within Asia, with excellent funding opportunities, market reach and startup experience.
