WAVE, a student-led tech community, held one of the leading AI and automation workshops in Sargodha, bringing together students, developers and tech enthusiasts from across the city for a session titled Chatbots and Automation at the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event brought a room full of participants together for live demonstrations of AI chatbots and automation tools, alongside discussions on where artificial intelligence is headed and how students in Sargodha can position themselves as active participants in that shift rather than passive observers.
The workshop featured Mujahid Farooq, CEO of Softelio, as guest speaker, who shared hands-on insights into building and deploying AI powered chatbots and automation systems. His session gave participants practical exposure to the kind of tools and workflows increasingly used in commercial AI development, offering students in a smaller city like Sargodha a rare opportunity to engage directly with an industry practitioner on applied AI work.
WAVE describes its broader mission as connecting ambitious students from across Sargodha, students with the potential to sharpen their skills, build real projects and eventually participate in larger platforms and opportunities beyond their home city. The organization positioned this workshop as its first, with plans already underway for additional workshops, speaker sessions, hackathons and collaborations aimed at building a more sustained tech culture and learning ecosystem in Sargodha, a city organizers described as having long lacked this kind of structured community.
The workshop reflects a broader pattern of student-led tech communities emerging in smaller Pakistani cities beyond the traditional hubs of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, aiming to extend hands on AI and technology education to students who may otherwise have limited access to industry practitioners or structured learning communities. For WAVE, the Sargodha workshop marks an initial step toward building a more established local tech ecosystem, with organizers indicating the event is meant to be the beginning of a longer term effort rather than a standalone initiative.
