University of Management and Technology Sialkot, Iqbal Campus, is set to organize a five day hands on Python programming workshop from August 24 to 28, 2026, aimed at helping participants develop practical programming skills and apply Python to real world problem solving. The workshop will be conducted at UMT Sialkot, Iqbal Campus, with sessions scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Dr. Muhammad Wasim will lead the training, which is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to fundamental programming concepts and commonly used Python development techniques.

The training will cover Python fundamentals and syntax along with essential programming concepts required for developing applications and solving computational problems. Participants will learn about data types, operators, control flow, functions, modules and libraries as part of the workshop curriculum. The program will also introduce file handling and exception handling, giving participants experience with techniques used when developing programs that process information and manage potential errors. These areas are intended to provide learners with a foundation that can be applied to further programming projects and more advanced Python development.

The workshop will also focus on Python data structures, including lists, tuples, dictionaries and sets. Participants will work through practical exercises designed to help them understand how these structures can be used to organize and process data within programs. Object oriented programming concepts will also form part of the training, providing participants with exposure to a programming approach widely used in software development. In addition to classroom instruction, the workshop will include mini projects and hands-on exercises, allowing participants to apply the concepts covered during the sessions rather than relying only on theoretical learning.

UMT has set the workshop fee at PKR 5,000, while the registration deadline is August 20, 2026. The five day format gives participants an opportunity to work through Python concepts progressively, beginning with basic syntax and programming principles before moving toward data structures and object oriented programming. The practical focus of the workshop is intended to help learners build familiarity with Python through exercises and small projects. The initiative also reflects the growing role of programming education in developing technical skills among students and professionals, particularly as Python is widely used across software development, data-related applications, automation and other technology fields.
