Pakistan’s cellular subscriber base reached 211.47 million in September 2026, while Ufone moved close to overtaking Jazz in the country’s mobile market, according to figures reported by ProPakistani, citing data from Arif Habib Limited. Jazz retained its position as the largest operator with 76.44 million subscribers, representing 36.15 percent of the market. Ufone followed with 76.29 million subscribers and a 36.08 percent share, leaving a difference of just 150,000 connections between the two operators. The figures indicate a narrowing gap in a market that has continued to expand during 2026.

The September figures show that Zong had 56.62 million subscribers, accounting for 26.78 percent of the market, while the State-owned Special Communications Organization (SCO) recorded 2.12 million subscribers, representing approximately one percent. Pakistan’s total cellular subscriber base increased by around 300,000 during September, equivalent to month-on-month growth of 0.14 percent. Since December 2025, the market has added 10.91 million subscribers, growing from 200.56 million to 211.47 million, an overall increase of approximately 5.4 percent.

Ufone recorded the highest calendar year-to-date net additions among the operators listed in the report, gaining 4.83 million subscribers. Zong added 3.48 million connections, while Jazz recorded an increase of 2.58 million. Ufone’s lead in net additions has helped reduce its subscriber gap with Jazz from 210,000 in August to 150,000 in September. The figures reflect a change in the competitive position of the two operators, with Ufone’s subscriber growth bringing it closer to the market leader. Zong, meanwhile, continues to hold the third-largest position with more than 56 million subscribers.

The latest figures highlight continued growth in Pakistan’s mobile communications market and increasing competition among cellular operators for subscribers. The expansion of the overall subscriber base also reflects sustained demand for mobile connectivity across the country. However, subscriber numbers alone do not indicate network quality, data speeds, coverage or customer experience, which require separate performance measurements. With Ufone now only 150,000 subscribers behind Jazz in the reported figures, the next monthly data release will show whether the gap continues to narrow or Jazz maintains its lead.
