Ufone has begun activating its 5G network in selected areas of Islamabad, marking another milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing rollout of next generation mobile connectivity. Early testing has confirmed that users in several parts of the federal capital are now able to access the operator’s 5G network, with download speeds exceeding 300 Mbps in multiple locations. The rollout follows the company’s acquisition of 5G spectrum earlier this year and represents the initial phase of a broader expansion strategy aimed at bringing faster mobile broadband services to more customers.
The first wave of coverage has been observed in areas including F 10, Jinnah Avenue, New Blue Area, G 9, the vicinity of Centaurus, Islamabad Expressway, Faizabad and the Serena Hotel area. While the current deployment remains limited to selected sites, additional locations are expected to become operational as the network expansion continues. During initial testing, download speeds consistently crossed the 300 Mbps mark, even while devices were moving between coverage areas. Upload performance was comparatively lower, although it remained suitable for everyday mobile applications such as video calling, cloud storage and social media usage.
The rollout reflects Ufone’s continued investment in upgrading its network infrastructure following the country’s 5G spectrum auction. With access to additional spectrum resources and ongoing network integration efforts, the operator is working to improve mobile broadband capacity, lower network congestion and deliver enhanced connectivity for both consumers and businesses. As demand for high speed mobile internet continues to rise, 5G technology is expected to support a wide range of digital services, including ultra high definition streaming, cloud gaming, smart devices, industrial automation and emerging artificial intelligence powered applications.
The activation of Ufone’s 5G services in Islamabad further expands Pakistan’s growing 5G ecosystem as telecom operators continue investing in next generation mobile networks. Although commercial availability is currently limited to selected areas, the rollout is expected to gradually extend across additional parts of the capital before reaching more cities nationwide. The expansion will contribute to improving digital connectivity, supporting innovation and enabling faster mobile experiences for users as Pakistan continues its transition toward advanced telecommunications infrastructure.
