Too many gadgets spoil the music; yes that’s the new saying.  There are just too many gadgets to choose, starting from tools for geeks to selfie addicts. A whole range of gadgets to cater to different needs of our daily lives. But the question is that do they come in a package? Does every gadget offer what you need? If that was the case, then why do we need a smartphone to communicate, a laptop for work, an ipad for leisure and an ipod to listen to music? So many gadgets, so much to do, so little time, one can never get enough of what to do. Technology is a life saver at times, but I can totally imagine myself getting estranged and killed in this wireless age. There is a never ending confusion at the Apple store and then also stopping oneself from overspending? Or the gadget which we’re about to purchase, does it have all the things I need or is it sheer waste of money? Affordability and convenience go hand in hand in today’s day and age.

Sometimes I just wonder if the technologist will or already have (incase I’m unaware of it) have made a device which can converse all three? Connectivity, computers, cell phones? The C’s of our lives which can’t be taken forward without their inclusion.  A dream gadget which exterminates the hassle of having to buy different products, all intended for the same use but limited features. What one lacks the other has!

The points of convergence of all these elements have yet to emerge, a breakthrough which will surely help the world. The convenience of carrying one gadget at all times and by all means, staying connected to friends and family, work environment and hassle free, maybe. Alas, I want to dream of a day when I will be able to switch to my favorite mode of the technology when needed or use the one I need the most at the moment!

Today there is exists complexity of simple devices as there is a whole array to choose from. However surprising to know that Naveed Siraj, the country head of intel choosing simplicity over complexity of our daily lives.  “I only use my Blackberry and PC for work. But I believe in a couple of years the convergence of usage will increase along with us relying more on technology as it will be readily accessible.” Technologists are hopeful and so do I have my fingers crossed for this kind of a futuristic technology.

If you compare it to other trends in the market, convergence has already taken toll. Gone are the days when users would have to search for a particular ATM branch for cheque deposting facilities. Since 1link provides a point of convergence for all bank ATMs.

Perhaps someday there will be  single gadget for all!
