Telecom Operators Association (TOA) has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to intervene and resolve the ongoing internet slowdown crisis.

The association highlighted the significant impact of the slowdown on various sectors, including commerce, health, education, financial and banking services, and public sector operations. TOA emphasized that the financial condition of the telecom sector is already challenged, and the slowdown will further deprive the sector of revenue.

The slowdown is also adversely impacting freelancers, businesses, and essential service providers. A recent Deloitte study showed that internet disruption can have a significant negative impact on the national economy.

TOA urged the Prime Minister to take immediate action to identify and rectify the technical issues causing the slowdown. The association expressed its willingness to participate in a dialogue and assist in finding solutions to improve the current internet situation.
