Art is a much underrated profession in Pakistan, and many artists do not have the right platforms to truly express themselves and make a name for themselves in the country. Therefore, more often than not artists in Pakistan have to resort to social media to promote their work.

One such is the example of Muhammad Nafay a 21-year-old, self-taught, digital artist and an illustrator. He freelancer as a UI/UX designer and has worked with a number of international clients and also works as a Graphic Designer for ConnectHear, a Pakistani startup that aims to make life easier for the deaf and mute.

Nafay posts most of his work on his instagram page. Speaking to local news, he revealed that he is a big fan of speed painting, a technique where artists work with a self imposed time limit so as to give themselves a challenge to push their own limits. Nafay’s “My Deer Friend”, also made it to the hot page on Reddit’s Art category that attracted around 19000 upvotes and lots of praise from around the world.

The software that Nafay uses for his digital art are: Photoshop CC (for illustration/painting), Cinema 4D (3D artwork), and After Effects (Animations). However, the hardware consists of a custom-built PC with the specifications: Graphic Card: GTX 1060 6GB OC, Core i5 7th Gen, Corsair Gaming 8GB DDR4 RAM and HP Z24i monitor along with an XP-Pen Graphic Tablet.

According to Nafay, he learned most of the work from m Lincoln Hughes’ tutorials and Beeple and aenami.art, his favorite digital artists.
