PTA Receives PKR 15.82bn As Second Instalment of License Renewal Fee

Cellular Mobile Operators’ licences are being renewed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) (CMOs).

PTA has collected PKR 15.82 billion (equal to USD 103.17 million) from two CMOs, Telenor Pakistan and Pakistan Mobile Communication Ltd, for the second instalment of licence renewal fees, according to an official statement released by the authority (Jazz).

According to the Pakistan Telecom Reorganization Act 1996, the money would be put in the Federal Consolidated Fund (FCF).

PTA has so far deposited PKR 135.81 billion (USD 862.22 million) with the government, representing 50% of the overall licence renewal price and the first instalment from three CMOs.Now that the second instalment from these two CMOs has been received, the total receipts on this count have reached PKR 151.63 billion (USD 965.39 million).

In October 2021, CMPAK (ZONG) must pay the second licence renewal fee instalment of USD 54.086.
