The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication will build new software technology parks in various parts of Pakistan in order to boost the country’s IT industry.

“We want to establish software technology parks in small and big cities across the country,” according to a senior official in the IT ministry. “The Pakistan Software Export Board, an attached department of the ministry, is working to establish software technology parks in Quetta, Gwadar, Faisalabad, Bannu, Swat, Mardan, Sukkur, and Hyderabad.”

Furthermore, the official added that the IT park would be built near Karachi’s trade and economic centre and would cost around Rs. 31 billion. The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will operate as the executing agency for this IT park, which would house approximately 210 IT-based enterprises and over 8,400 employees.

Furthermore, the IT park would be over 106,449 square metres in size, with eight stories above ground and three underground levels. In addition, the Exim Bank of Korea will provide financial assistance to IT companies that are a member of the IT park. It would take roughly 6 years to finish the project.
