Raid in Jhelum and Lala Musa by PTA and FIA

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a successful raid for illegal gateway exchange.  The raid was conducted afterheavy investigation. It has been reported that, seven wireless internet devices, Illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) exchange comprising 16 ports, thousands of SIMs, were impounded. It is concluded that, the foray against illegal gateway exchange have saved millions.

Zong instigating Super 3G in Lahore and Karachi

Islamabad: In a press conference held in Islamabad, Zong announced to start it Super 3G Services.  The conference was attended by Chairman PTA Dr. Syed Ismail Shah and other officers. It was announced that customers don’t have to face inconvenience of buying new 3G enable SIMs, all existing Zong SIM cards are 3G enable.

Telecom Industry facing heavy burden of tax

ISLAMABAD: Telecom Companies appealed government to remove all increased taxes.  This request was put forward for removal of Customs duty on imported machinery, registration and activation of phone sets. After having a meeting with FBR, representatives from different cellular companies told the media that once this policy is implemented on July 01, 2014 they will take appropriate action against it.

Furthermore, government has raised custom duty, after 3G&4G launch, when Cellular Companies aim to import cellular machinery which is worth $2 billion to $3 billion.
