Facebook Sued for Nosing into Private Messages

Facebook is facing a class action lawsuit for allegedly violating its users’ right. The social network is being sued by users who claim that the company intercepts private messages, without consent of its members. The suit cites report from firm High-Tech Bridge that suggests that Facebook scans the links shared in private messages.

Warid Telecom Introduces Mobile Money Service

Pakistani operator Warid Telecom has teamed up with Bank Alfalah to launch a mobile money service. The service, Mobile Paisa, will initially enable users to make utility bill payments and secure money transfers across Pakistan through this collaboration.

Syrian Electronic Army Hack Skype

Syrian group of hackers – identified as “Syrian Electronic Army” – had hacked the social media accounts of Skype. This group hacked into the twitter account of Skype and even revealed the account details of leaving CEO Microsoft, Steve Ballmer. The reason behind attack was alleged collaboration of Microsoft with National Security Agency (NSA) in global surveillance of data -an allegation that the company has denied time and again.

Samsung Home Entertainment Lineup Unveils More Products

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., announced an expanded roster of audio products, aimed at advancing the entertainment experience. Samsung expands on the 2013 launch of Samsung Shape Wireless Audio-Multiroom System. The new product line reflects the growing demand for solutions offering multiple audio sources.

TEVTA and Kamata Join Hands

Kamata Pakistan and Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority, TEVTA, signed an agreement to facilitate blue-collared workers. Kamata Pakistan will link these potential employees to employers, thus, offering matchmaking services. The collaboration will open new horizons for securing jobs. Apart from this, Kamata Pakistan will also conduct Soft Skills Training Sessions for these graduates to enhance job interview skills. 

Pakistan Mobile Networks to scrap Call Set-Up Charges
PTA instructs the mobile networks to scrap the recently introduced call set-up charge. This is in due to the country’s mobile operators imposed call-setup charges of Rs. 0.10+ tax on each call last week, which is to be reversed.

Complaints Better be Dealt With: Anusha

Minister of State for Information Technology, Ms. Anusha Rahman desired that complaint handling system be made more effective to tackle with the number of complaints – particularly to address the need of proactive search of objectionable content and handling of grey traffic related issues. She said this on her visit PTA Headquarters yesterday.

Microsoft Pakistan Wishes to Solve Society’s Woes

Microsoft Pakistan addressed Information Communication Technology solutions for NGOs, Youth and Education at a day-long event last week. Prominent educationists, philanthropists, representatives from social sector and community builders attended the event where discussions on the use of ICT solutions to alleviate social problems ensued.
