Telenor Pakistan has announced the appointment of Mudasser Shafiq as Chief Financial Officer, signaling a significant leadership transition at a time of structural change within Pakistan’s telecommunications sector. Shafiq joins the company with more than 18 years of experience in telecom finance, having held multiple senior roles in complex operational environments. The appointment reflects Telenor Pakistan’s focus on strengthening financial governance, supporting strategic execution, and maintaining continuity amid evolving ownership and operational frameworks.

In his role as CFO, Shafiq will lead the company’s financial strategy, governance, and reporting functions, providing critical oversight for enterprise-wide decision-making and long-term planning. His responsibilities include ensuring financial discipline, managing risk during the ongoing transformation process, and delivering data-driven insights to support both leadership and operational teams. Telenor Pakistan emphasized that this appointment is a key step in reinforcing resilient and forward-looking financial leadership as the company navigates industry consolidation and regulatory complexities.

Shafiq brings an extensive professional background, combining technical expertise with strategic and commercial acumen. He holds an MBA in Finance, is ACCA qualified, and has completed an Executive MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences. His experience positions him to manage the financial operations of a company undergoing significant transformation while maintaining high standards of corporate governance and operational stability. The company highlighted that Shafiq’s leadership will play a crucial role in supporting long-term sustainability, execution, and stability during this period of change.

During the announcement, PTCL confirmed that original talent from Telenor Pakistan will continue to be adjusted and retained as part of the merger process. This measure ensures continuity across operations while integrating teams into the newly consolidated telecom entity. Telenor Pakistan underlined that Shafiq’s appointment aligns with its commitment to effective financial stewardship and strategic planning, particularly as the sector faces rising investment demands and shifting regulatory requirements. By strengthening its executive team, Telenor Pakistan aims to maintain stability and operational efficiency while preparing for future challenges and opportunities in Pakistan’s evolving telecommunications market.

The company also emphasized that the CFO role will be central to optimizing financial performance and supporting enterprise-wide growth objectives. Shafiq’s leadership is expected to enhance decision-making, risk management, and financial accountability, ensuring that Telenor Pakistan continues to deliver reliable services while adapting to industry consolidation trends. The appointment reinforces the company’s strategy to balance operational stability with progressive financial governance and to navigate the next phase of its operations with confidence.
