Telenor Pakistan Limited and Ufone (Pak Telecom Mobile Limited) have fulfilled their obligations by paying the first annual instalment of the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) Licenses for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Telenor Pakistan paid an amount of Rs. 154 million, while Ufone contributed Rs. 12 million, bringing the total to Rs. 166 million (approximately $0.744 million), which was remitted to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Additionally, the PTA received a substantial sum of Rs. 1.88 billion (about $8.76 million) from CMPak Limited (Zong) earlier in August. This payment constituted 50% of the upfront renewal cost for its license renewal in the year 2022.

Over the course of 2021, the PTA has been granted a total of Rs. 9.57 billion (approximately $54.66 million) through cellular mobile license renewals and spectrum auctions in AJ&K and GB.

These financial contributions underscore the telecom companies’ commitment to meeting their licensing obligations and bolstering the development of next-generation mobile services in AJK and GB, contributing to improved connectivity and communication services in the region.
