City of Angels: Humayun Mazhar Talks Tech & VC Investments

 

In today’s hypercompetitive environment, tech entrepreneurs find themselves working diligently to attract funding from angel investors and venture capitalists, so they can achieve their dreams.

Humayun Mazhar is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of Cresventures, an Angel Capital firm that connects entrepreneurs with resources. We asked him what was his organization’s biggest takeaway from 2017?

“The promising evolvement of the tech startup ecosystem in Pakistan is a big take away from 2017”, said Humayun Mazhar.

Addressing the strategy for the new year for CresVentures, he said:

“There are a number of trends and opportunities such as the incentive package for tech startups, Provincial Sales Tax (PRA) on tech enabled services, the incentive package for Angel Investors and a more focused approach by the National Incubation Centers on verticals attracting VC money around the globe. The main challenge is founder maturity and giving the same treatment to tech startups and as traditional startups by incubators.”

He went on to say that the Pakistani tech startup ecosystem seems to be in the take-off phase, and “we are very confident that we shall see some Pakistani mini unicorns making news on the global scene in the next 3-5 years”.

Sharing a local success story, Humayun Mazhar looked back at their investments in the tech-enabled ride hailing, and online handymen services, that he says have been very successful. Here’s wishing more good news coming from the
