“Three students from LGS Defence – Mishka, Nyma and Haadia partook in an international Science Olympiad titled ‘Phoenix Space Launchpad Challenge.’

Out of the hundreds of participants, they ranked second globally winning a $1000 cash prize alongside receiving a specially designed “Beyond Imagination” certificate for their proposal.

The aim of the challenge was to develop ways to make the Martian climate more habitable. It received an influx of propositions from \ on the different ways in which Mars could be terraformed into a livable place.

However, these girls came up with a proposal which altered not the planet, but rather the human physiology through genetics in order to adapt to Martian conditions.

Their elaborate and distinct proposal won them this honor despite being one of the youngest competitors.

As a part of their prize, these girls also had the opportunity to meet a venture capitalist – Mr. Raffaele Mauro of Primo Space, who was keen on investing in their idea.”
