Cybernet, through its flagship brand StormFiber, has entered into a partnership with Pakistan Railways to provide free WiFi at Karachi Cantt Station, one of the country’s busiest transport hubs. The initiative is part of a broader push to modernize travel infrastructure and make public spaces more digitally accessible. By introducing complimentary internet access, the collaboration aims to deliver both convenience and connectivity for thousands of daily commuters, ensuring passengers can remain connected while traveling and make better use of their waiting time at the station.

The agreement was formalized with the signing of an MoU, highlighting the shared objective of both StormFiber and Pakistan Railways to enhance passenger services through technology. Officials noted that Karachi Cantt Station serves as a major gateway for cross-country travelers, and digital facilities such as free WiFi will play a key role in improving the travel experience. With uninterrupted access, passengers will be able to connect with family, check real-time updates, and plan onward journeys more effectively, underscoring the station’s role not just as a transit point but also as a digitally equipped public space.

Speaking on the initiative, Mehmood Rehman Lakho, Divisional Superintendent Karachi, emphasized that integrating free WiFi reflects a commitment to improving railway facilities and supporting modern passenger needs. He noted that enhanced access to information and communication will not only make travel more convenient but will also raise the overall standard of services offered at Karachi Cantt Station. Amir Sheikh, Managing Director Optical Fiber Dev, added that StormFiber views connectivity as an essential utility, extending beyond residential and office use. By enabling free internet access at a central transport hub, the company aims to bring practical digital benefits to a wider population and promote inclusivity in public services.

The collaboration illustrates StormFiber’s broader vision of expanding digital inclusion across Pakistan, where access to reliable internet is increasingly becoming a necessity. For Pakistan Railways, the partnership supports its mission of modernizing operations and upgrading passenger facilities in line with evolving expectations. Together, both organizations are laying the groundwork for transforming how travelers experience one of Pakistan’s busiest railway stations, aligning with the wider national agenda of building a connected and digitally enabled society.
