Sindh government has announced plans to hold an online auction for special vehicle number plates to raise funds for the construction of homes for flood victims.
Excise Minister Sharjeel Memon, during a meeting on Wednesday, revealed that the auction will offer three premium categories of number plates: platinum, gold, and silver. A dedicated online portal will be launched where individuals can participate in the bidding process.
In addition to the online auction, a major fundraising event is scheduled to take place in Karachi on October 12th. This event will also provide an opportunity for people to bid on premium and personalized number plates.
The funds generated from both the online auction and the fundraising event will be entirely allocated towards the housing project for flood victims.
To address the growing concern of narcotics in the province, the Sindh Excise Department has also announced plans to intensify its efforts against drug trafficking. Minister Memon ordered strict action against officers found neglecting their duties in this regard.
The department will deploy additional police personnel and resources to strengthen its operations against drug networks, aiming to dismantle these networks through sustained and coordinated efforts.
