Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Lab at the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) in Hyderabad, marking a major shift toward digitalizing the recruitment process for public sector positions. The lab is equipped with 500 tablets and has the capacity to assess up to 2,000 candidates daily, making SPSC the first institution in the province to implement fully digitized testing.
The CBT lab was introduced to ensure enhanced transparency, minimize human error, and provide instant results to candidates. During the inauguration ceremony, hosted by SPSC Chairman Mohammad Waseem, the Chief Minister participated in a mock test, scoring 18 out of 20. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also took part and successfully passed the test. The immediate display of test results highlighted the system’s speed and efficiency in evaluating candidates.
Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Murad Ali Shah applauded SPSC for its efforts to adopt a transparent, merit-based approach in its recruitment system. He emphasized that improving the quality of public institutions requires the appointment of the most capable individuals, and praised the Commission’s decision to digitize the examination process as a meaningful advancement in recruitment protocols. He described the initiative as a step forward in supporting meritocracy and institutional integrity.
Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction SPSC Secretariat Complex, where he was briefed on its progress by Secretary Works Nawaz Soho. The project, with an estimated total cost of Rs. 2,517.430 million, has already utilized Rs. 2,257.242 million. An additional Rs. 258.400 million has been allocated for the fiscal year 2025-26, and Murad Shah instructed that the required funds be released without delay to ensure timely completion.
The complex will comprise a basement, ground floor, and five additional stories. It is designed to house administrative offices, a digital library capable of accommodating 300 candidates, an auditorium for examinations and training sessions, a cafeteria, and a dedicated prayer area. The auditorium, located on the third floor, will be used for official programs and workshops, reducing reliance on rented venues.
Murad Shah expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction and reiterated the importance of institutional infrastructure in strengthening public sector operations. He also received a performance and reform update from SPSC, learning that over 100 employees have been promoted under the current administration. Improvements in salaries and office environment were also noted. The Chief Minister commended Chairman Mohammad Waseem for his leadership in guiding the Commission through significant operational upgrades.
Emphasizing the need to accelerate recruitment for essential roles such as doctors, engineers, and other professionals, Murad Shah reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger and more transparent public service structure across the province.
