Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi described the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Programme as a major step toward preparing young people for the demands of the modern world, urging students to equip themselves with information technology and digital skills to play a meaningful role in the country’s progress. He shared these remarks while addressing students attending a one year Leadership and IT Classes programme in Karachi.
During his address, Hashmi outlined the range of opportunities available through the Digital Youth Programme, including training in information technology, artificial intelligence, digital skills, freelancing, startups and entrepreneurship, along with access to employment opportunities, scholarships, internships and the laptop scheme. He said these combined offerings are intended to help young Pakistanis compete more effectively at both national and international levels as global demand for digital skills continues to grow.
The Governor also reflected on the broader trajectory of youth focused digital initiatives in the country, recalling how the earlier distribution of laptops among university students had signaled the beginning of a longer term push toward building a more digitally capable generation. He said that vision has continued developing over the years through the promotion of modern information technology education and the expansion of digital opportunities for young people across the country. He encouraged students to make full use of the programme’s resources, improve their technical skills, and work toward positioning Pakistan as a stronger player in global technology, innovation and research.
Hashmi also acknowledged the contribution of Daniyal Nagori, who he said has spent years providing information technology training to thousands of young people, describing him as a role model for the younger generation working to build up the country’s digital skills base. He added that the Governor House would continue supporting technical education, IT training and digital skills development going forward, reflecting a broader commitment from provincial leadership toward ongoing investment in Pakistan’s technology focused youth programs.
