Following promising results from Karachi’s faceless e-challan system, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has announced plans to extend this digital ticketing initiative to several other districts in the province. This decision was finalized during a key meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi, chaired by Memon and attended by senior officials including Additional IGs, the Safe City Authority director general, and traffic department heads. The session focused on the preparedness and implementation strategy for the Traffic Road Accident and Control System (TRACS) alongside the faceless e-ticketing mechanism.
Districts selected for the first phase of expansion include Thatta, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Larkana. The program, which has already been operational in Karachi, seeks to streamline traffic law enforcement through a cashless and more efficient ticketing system. Updates presented during the meeting confirmed that the necessary infrastructure—such as cameras and the TRACS system—has been installed and tested in these areas. Additionally, service centers have been set up and staff training is scheduled to commence shortly to ensure smooth operations once the system goes live.
IG Sindh stressed the significance of comprehensive public awareness efforts to accompany the rollout. He directed divisional DIGs to launch widespread campaigns involving stakeholders, media outlets, local administrations, and the general public. Emphasizing the importance of education on traffic regulations, he highlighted the need to promote helmet use, seat belt adherence, and correct display of vehicle number plates to help reduce violations and improve overall road safety. These efforts are considered critical for the success of the faceless e-challan system as well as for fostering a culture of responsible driving behavior across Sindh.
The meeting underlined the broader vision to enhance traffic management and reduce road accidents by leveraging digital technology and systematic monitoring. With the faceless e-challan system and TRACS technology enabling real-time detection of violations such as number plate infractions, Sindh Police aims to create a more transparent and effective enforcement environment. By expanding this initiative beyond Karachi, authorities are working toward a unified and modernized traffic enforcement framework across the province, paving the way for safer and more disciplined roadways.
