Royella Foods, a promising startup nurtured at NIC Faisalabad under Ignite – National Technology Fund, Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan, has earned global recognition at the prestigious Global Development Public Policy Youth Innovation (GDPPYI) Contest 2025 in China. The startup, led by founders Raees Ur Rehman and Rahab Ajmal, secured the Best Observer Award and Scientific Poster Award at the international event, which was co-hosted by Renmin University of China, FAO, UNITAR, and the Global SDGs & Leadership Development Center. The achievement underscores the potential of Pakistani startups to compete and excel on global innovation platforms.

The GDPPYI contest brought together over 1,400 participants representing more than 35 countries, offering a highly competitive environment for youth-led innovation in sustainable development. Amidst this global gathering, Royella Foods stood out with its sustainable food innovations, particularly in the development of products such as date seed coffee and natural fruit-based spreads. These innovations not only highlight the creative use of indigenous resources but also demonstrate how local ideas can address global challenges related to food security and wellness. Their approach has been applauded for its ability to blend traditional food resources with modern consumer needs, offering healthier and environmentally conscious alternatives.

Royella Foods’ success story reflects the growing importance of incubators such as NIC Faisalabad, which provide young entrepreneurs with mentorship, training, and access to resources to transform their ideas into impactful businesses. Under Ignite’s guidance, the startup has been able to refine its solutions to align with global standards while staying rooted in local sustainability. The recognition at GDPPYI further validates the role of Pakistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem in nurturing talent that can deliver innovative solutions not just nationally, but internationally.

The participation and recognition of Pakistani youth-led ventures in events of this scale send a strong message about the capabilities and aspirations of the country’s new generation of entrepreneurs. By focusing on sustainable practices and products that promote health and environmental well-being, startups like Royella Foods are demonstrating how Pakistan can contribute to the global innovation economy. Their achievement adds another milestone to the country’s growing presence on the global entrepreneurship map, positioning Pakistan as a hub of young talent capable of addressing international challenges with creativity and resilience.
