The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has rolled out a new digital service that allows citizens to conveniently check the status of their applications through the Pak ID mobile app. According to a Nadra spokesperson, this initiative is part of the organization’s continuous effort to enhance accessibility and efficiency by reducing the need for in-person visits to Nadra offices. With this addition, citizens can now stay updated on their identity documentation processes remotely, streamlining a system that previously required multiple office visits.

Nearly all core services offered by Nadra are now integrated into the Pak ID app, including applications for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs), B-Forms, and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs). The spokesperson highlighted that individuals are only required to physically visit a Nadra office once in their lifetime — at the time of obtaining their first identity card. This transformation holds particular significance for overseas Pakistanis, who can now avail of services such as card renewals and FRC applications without having to return to Pakistan, ensuring ease of access to critical documentation no matter where they reside.

The new service builds on earlier reforms introduced by Nadra to simplify citizen services. Recently, the authority streamlined the process of acquiring Succession Certificates, providing a more structured approach to inheritance matters. Legal heirs can now apply for these certificates at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) across the country, regardless of the province or city where the inherited property is located. These SFUs have been set up at Nadra centres in all major regions, including Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, ensuring national coverage. By centralizing and digitizing this process, Nadra has significantly reduced the administrative burden for families handling sensitive legal matters.

To complement these services, Nadra has also enhanced its biometric verification system. Legal heirs applying for Succession Certificates or citizens completing other documentation processes can now perform biometric verification either at their nearest Nadra centre or remotely using the Pak ID app. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for people living abroad or in remote areas, where reaching a physical centre may be inconvenient. By embedding advanced verification options within the mobile app, Nadra has taken another step toward building a more user-friendly, secure, and digitized citizen service model.
