CAPCOM is reportedly preparing a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica, with multiple insiders pointing to a potential release in the first half of 2027. The latest confirmation comes from leaker Nate the Hate, one of the most reliable sources in the gaming community, who corroborates earlier reports from Dusk Golem suggesting that both Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are slated for remakes, targeting 2027 and 2028 respectively. According to the insider, the game is already deep in development, indicating that fans may only be a year or so away from experiencing the remake.

Resident Evil Code Veronica holds a unique place in franchise history, originally launching as a Dreamcast exclusive before later releases on PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Despite its later ports, the game did not receive widespread traction, leaving many fans eager for a modernized version. The remake is expected to follow the same storyline, with players controlling the Redfield siblings, Claire and Chris, as they attempt to survive a viral outbreak on a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean and a research facility in Antarctica. Set approximately three months after Resident Evil 2, the narrative blends survival horror, exploration, and the franchise’s signature tension-driven gameplay.

The success of previous Resident Evil remakes has set high expectations for Code Veronica. Resident Evil 2 Remake has become CAPCOM’s third best-selling title with over 16.3 million units sold, while Resident Evil 4 Remake, released in March 2023, has already reached 11.1 million units. Resident Evil 3 Remake, although slightly less commercially successful at 10.6 million units, still proved the franchise’s ability to modernize older entries while maintaining fan interest. CAPCOM confirmed in late 2023 that the company was planning additional remakes, indicating a strategic focus on revitalizing its classic catalog for modern audiences.

While specific details about gameplay mechanics, graphics, or platform availability have yet to be officially announced, the remake is expected to leverage current generation hardware for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Fans anticipate enhanced visuals, updated controls, and possibly modernized combat and exploration features to align with contemporary survival horror standards. With the confirmed development and insiders placing the release in H1 2027, anticipation is building among the Resident Evil community, as Code Veronica has long been considered a fan-favorite story that bridges key events between major franchise entries, and its remake represents a significant step in CAPCOM’s ongoing effort to revisit and refine its classic titles for a new generation of players.
