To close the employment-to-population gap and give the populace with cheap access to modern education, Punjab’s Higher Education Department (HED) is introducing new market-oriented subjects in BS degree colleges.

Provincial Minister Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz has given his approval for the introduction of new modern disciplines at public sector colleges, according to an official handout.

Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Medical Lab Technology, Tourism & Hospitality, and Data Science are among the new disciplines introduced.

In the coming academic year, Dr. Aashiq Hussain, the DPI Institutions, will introduce the programme at a few colleges.

Nadeem Mahbub, Punjab’s Provincial Secretary for Higher Education, said that the new market-oriented disciplines will be implemented in 16 colleges across four districts starting in the academic year 2021-22.

Later, these disciplines will be implemented in a phased way in all of the province’s colleges.
