The University of Sargodha’s Career Development Center (CDC) has introduced a free online Python programming course in collaboration with iCodeGuru, designed to build essential programming and digital skills among students and faculty members. The initiative has been well received, with over 2,000 students already enrolled in the sessions. Several faculty members have also joined the program to strengthen their technical expertise and better integrate modern programming practices into academic teaching.

Python has become one of the most widely used programming languages across the globe, known for its simplicity and versatility. Its applications span across diverse domains such as artificial intelligence, data science, web development, and automation, making it a valuable skill in today’s digital economy. Recognizing this, the University of Sargodha aims to equip its students with practical coding experience that can help them navigate a rapidly evolving job market. The course focuses on real-world use cases, ensuring that participants not only learn the syntax but also understand how to apply Python to solve real problems.

The training sessions are led by professional instructors from iCodeGuru, who bring industry experience to the virtual classroom. Their approach combines theoretical lessons with hands-on exercises, encouraging students to engage in project-based learning. Participants are expected to complete coding challenges and build small projects to demonstrate their understanding of programming concepts. The course also provides mentorship opportunities, where learners can interact with instructors and receive feedback to improve their skills.

Director of ORIC, Prof Dr Ahmad Raza Bilal, commended the collaborative effort between CDC and iCodeGuru, stating that the initiative aligns with ORIC’s mission to promote technology-driven learning in higher education. He emphasized that such programs are essential to prepare students and educators for the demands of the modern digital economy. The partnership represents a proactive approach to integrating innovation within Pakistan’s academic institutions, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical advancement.

By offering accessible and structured training in Python, the University of Sargodha is contributing to Pakistan’s broader goal of enhancing digital literacy and building a workforce ready for the global technology landscape. The initiative not only encourages students to pursue careers in programming and data science but also supports faculty development in emerging digital tools, ensuring that academic programs remain relevant and aligned with industry needs.
