The Punjab government held a consultative session to discuss strategies for promoting the production of IT hardware within the province. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and industry.
Participants highlighted the challenges faced by local IT hardware manufacturers, including restrictions on unofficial imports and a lack of government acceptance for locally produced items. They called for tax relaxations and greater support for research and development to enhance the competitiveness of the sector.
The Planning and Development Board Chairman, Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to reducing reliance on imports and creating a favorable environment for local IT hardware manufacturing. He expressed gratitude to the participants for their valuable contributions and pledged continued engagement to drive the growth of the industry.
The session concluded with a consensus on the need for collaboration and dialogue among all stakeholders to achieve the province’s objectives in IT hardware production.
