Punjab government has implemented a comprehensive overhaul of its pension system, transitioning to a digital-first approach for managing pension records.

The Punjab Pension Rules have been amended, replacing traditional paper-based “Pension Papers” with digital “E-Pension Papers.” The application process has also been streamlined, with medical certificates now referred to as “e-medical certificates.”

This significant shift is part of broader reforms to the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974, aimed at modernizing pension administration. The Secretary of the Finance Department Punjab has issued a Gazette Notification to formalize these changes.

The digitization of pension rolls is expected to improve efficiency, reduce paperwork, and enhance transparency in the pension disbursement process. This move aligns with the government’s broader efforts to digitize public services in Punjab.
